Why capitalism entails a moral obligation to share your wealth | Ken Lagone

"A rising tide lifts all boats," says Ken Langone, one of the co-founders of Home Depot as he makes his case for capitalism being the being the best economic model. He co-founded The Home Depot with his friends Arthur Blank, Bernard Marcus, Pat Farrah, and Ron Brill back in 1978, and today it's a multibillion-dollar company. And while he agrees that capitalism has its downsides, he says that he can point to 3,000 people who started out with an entry-level position at a Home Depot that rose through the ranks and are now millionaires. How I Learned about Capitalism from JS Bach and a Penniless Swami
How I Learned about Capitalism from JS Bach and a Penniless Swami (Full Session)

Some argue that capitalism is a great blessing and a fundamental force for good. Others argue that it can encourage greed. The truth? Both sides are onto something. Free enterprise has lifted billions of people out of poverty worldwide. But while we fight for prosperity at home and around the world, we must guard against materialism and remember that money is only a means to greater ends. Please join Arthur Brooks—New York Times columnist, bestselling author, and president of the American Enterprise Institute—for this thought-provoking conversation.

A Cure for Capitalism by Richard D. Wolff

After five years of deepening crisis, failed "solutions," and aborted "recoveries," millions see a capitalist system no longer serving most Americans. It's time to demand a cure big and bold enough to work. Richard Wolff spoke on to hear that cure presented, explained, and justified. Instead of resignation to economic decline, come and help build real and positive change.

This evening was the launch Wolff's latest book, Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism released September 1st, 2012 by Haymarket Publishers. Published on Mar 14, 2013
