FAO and Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs partnered to strengthen the cacao value chain in Cubará, Boyacá. The project supported ASOCAB, an association of 60 farming families, with technical assistance and agroecological transition.

Key achievements include a cacao processing plant, a standardization and drying center, a registered local brand, four new cacao products, and agroecological practices. This initiative improves livelihoods, promotes sustainable agriculture, and strengthens rural development in border regions.

In Caleta Los Hornos, Chile, authorities and educators launched "Aprender para proteger," a pedagogical resource. This material strengthens the National Environmental Certification System (SNCAE) by transforming educational gaps into concrete actions for marine conservation.

Over 150 students, 12 schools, and regional authorities participated. The marine-coastal environmental education guide resulted from interinstitutional coordination and collaboration with the GEF Marine Coastal Governance project, implemented by FAO and executed by Chile's Ministry of Environment, Subsecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.

Manzo Ecology Elementary in Tucson, Arizona, challenges the notion that leading green schools are exclusive. This K-5 public school, located in an under-resourced community, functions as both a farm and ecology lab. Students collaborate with University of Arizona and Biosphere 2 scientists, collecting data for projects spanning agro-voltaic efficiency to climate science, while also learning about soil science, composting, and native habitat preservation.

Manzo operates almost entirely on solar power and harvests 32,000 gallons of rainwater annually. Its recycling and composting program processes over 4,000 pounds of waste, making students key contributors to significant campus conservation efforts.
