This period supported Rancholabrean megafauna, including the giant Ice Age bear, *Arctodus simus*, and early humans, evidenced by mammoth remains found with artifacts. Join NHI and archaeologist Dick Ryan to explore Arizona's glacial past, its animals, and early human inhabitants.

Dick Ryan is an archaeologist with ten years of field experience in the American Southwest and a Master's from NAU. His primary interest lies in Paleoindian mammoth hunters, a topic on which he has published extensively. He also actively promotes Mata Ortiz Pottery.

Extreme weather, habitat loss, and ocean changes are devastating wildlife globally, from polar bears to desert tortoises, and causing billions in human and economic damages. The U.S. alone suffered 22 billion-dollar weather disasters in 2020.

Urgent action is needed to expand renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Defenders is actively addressing these threats by developing adaptive conservation plans, advocating for increased funding, and ensuring renewable energy projects are responsibly sited to protect wildlife.
