John Hearin, Ph.D., explores the critical importance of our world's beaches as cultural treasures and vital economic engines. He will explain common methods for protecting these essential resources and how our decisions literally shape the shoreline.

Dr. Hearin, who grew up in Daytona Beach, holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, where he also served as an Assistant Research Professor. With over 15 years of active involvement, he currently chairs the Cocoa Beach chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
