Dr. Katie Kamelamela, born and raised on Oahu, is passionate about relationships with Hawaii's forests. She helps communities, agencies, and non-profits develop strategies for long-term, practice-based goals through partnerships. Her vision, from her University of Hawaii Botany degree, is "Hawaii practices on Hawaii landscapes," linking local climate action to our connection with the land.

With diverse island climates, Dr. Kamelamela integrates community needs with policy to support understanding and management of forest-gathered resources. This empowers cultivators, managers, and consumers, recognizing the cultural and economic value of these practices.
