David Tucker is the Director of Pachamama Journeys and is living in Ecuador in support of the indigenous peoples. David is responsible for Pachamama Journeys, an experientially based, transformational program that powerfully reconnects participants to the Earth, themselves and others through direct experience with wild nature, indigenous cultures and shared group experience.  He was interviewed in Ecuadaor by Barry Heidt of Sustainability Action Media (SAM) as part of a SAM campaign with EarthSayers.tv, Ecuadorian Wisdom Keepers Speaking on Behalf of Mother Earth.

This is a radio interview of Barry Heidt of Sustainability Action Media (SAM) by Ruth Ann Barrett of EarthSayers.tv about his recent trip to Ecuador's Achuar Territory to interview the indigenous leaders. The interview was conducted on World Water Day. Barry addresses the water pollution caused by the extraction of oil as it is important to bear witness to what remains ahead of the indigenous communities in Ecuador unless all of us who are sustainability advocates raise our hands and our voices against the continued pillage of Mother Earth and her peoples in the name of short term profits and our insatiable demand for oil regardless of the consequences.

The Surui Cultural Map shows the Surui tribe of the Amazon's vision of their forest, including their territory and traditional history. To create this map, Surui youth interviewed their elders to document and map their ancestral sites, such as the site of first contact with western civilization in 1969, places where the tribes battled with colonists in the 1970s, as well as places of interest, like sightings of jaguars, capybaras and toucans. To preserve their forest and their livelihood, the Surui are entering the Carbon Credit marketplace with software called Open Data Kit to measure carbon and monitor any illegal logging in their forests using Android smartphones.

Google Earth Outreach gives nonprofits and public benefit organizations the knowledge and resources they need to visualize their cause and tell their story in Google Earth & Maps to hundreds of millions of people.

"The world has not done an analysis to decide whether oil is more valuable than what is lost by destroying the Amazon. We have so much. In order to debate on an economic level, we would have to conduct a thorough study to find out how much the Amazon could give to the world. Oil Round in southeastern Ecuador offers national and transnational companies 
about 3 million hectors of tropical forest which is home to seven indigenous nacionalides. The signing of contracts with oil companies is privista for October this year. Published on Mar 9, 2013
