Martha Thorne, Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Dean at IE University, will discuss what makes a good architect and how the field must evolve to meet future challenges.

An acclaimed architectural academic, curator, editor, and author, Thorne previously served as a curator at the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a member of the Honorary Committee for the UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023, where you can meet committee members during selected sessions in Copenhagen.

Published January 2, 2015, this presentation addresses global obstacles to Mother Earth's rights, compiling insights from Indigenous Peoples worldwide on defending the Earth from human misuse. Dr. Dan Wildcat, Director of the Haskell Environmental Research Studies (HERS) Center and Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences at Haskell Indian Nations University, delivered this report.

His speech was originally given at the 2012 Indigenous Forum, co-produced with the Cultural Conservatory, during the Bioneers National Conference. Dr. Wildcat has taught at Haskell for 25 years.

The broader assembly convened over 125 grassroots and frontline women leaders, advocates, and policymakers from 50 countries. Across 25 unique panels, participants presented diverse visions and strategies to accelerate a transformative path towards a healthy and just world.

He co-founded the HBCU Climate Change Consortium and directs the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice, having previously served as Dean at Texas Southern University.

In 2022, Dr. Bullard received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree *in absentia* from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, where his commencement address was read to great acclaim. He was welcomed to campus on April 26, 2023, by the Graduate School and Earth Commons.

Dr. Almandrez is the Associate Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Rhode Island, where she champions diversity, equity, and fosters a vibrant community. Previously at Brown University, she advocated for student success and oversaw key student services, including Residential Life and Student Support. She also chaired Brown’s Threat Assessment Team.

Dr. Joseph W. Dorsey is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of South Florida's Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS). He also directs the PCGS Academic Capstone and the Food Sustainability and Security concentration.

His research focuses on urban agriculture, brownfield redevelopment, sustainable food management, and community economic empowerment. Dr. Dorsey previously held faculty positions at Michigan State, Miami University, and USF-St. Petersburg. Before his doctoral career, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and a public health and clinical nutritionist.
