With her late husband, Douglas Tompkins, she is recognized as one of history's most successful national park philanthropists. Her NGO, Tompkins Conservation, recently partnered with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet to create five new national parks and expand three others in Chile, adding over 10 million acres of protected land.

In her talk, Tompkins will share insights into her conservation work in the Southern Cone, her transition from businesswoman, and her call to action: "Paying our rent to Earth." The discussion will be moderated by Kate Brandt.

The Netherlands' National Environmental Policy Plan (NEPP), adopted in 1989, is the longest-running example. Despite facing severe environmental problems like congestion and heavy industry, the country achieved significant recovery in under 20 years through its implementation.
