Plastic pollution and food insecurity are pressing global challenges. Fortunately, small insects like mealworms offer promising solutions to these issues.

George Shenusay, an environmental science student at UCLA, leads a research team investigating mealworms' ability to consume plastic. His passion for sustainability began after accidentally breeding thousands of mealworms in middle school.
