Nag Ashwin, an Indian film director and screenwriter, studied cinematography at The New York Film Institute. He began his career as an assistant director for films including ‘Nenu Meeku Telusaa?’, ‘Leader’, and ‘Life is beautiful’. His short film, ‘Yaadon ki Baraat’, was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner.

He made his directorial debut with ‘Yevade Subramanyam’, a critical and commercial success that earned him the Nandi award for Best Debut Director. He later wrote and directed ‘Mahanati’, a biographical drama about actress Savitri, which garnered critical acclaim and was a box office blockbuster.
