Simulation in action: Preparing for African swine fever outbreaks | FAO ECTAD
January 13, 2026

African Swine Fever (ASF) is a major threat to pig farming and food security. The FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) in Asia and the Pacific supports countries in strengthening animal health systems to prevent and manage ASF.

A video demonstrates how FAO’s ASF simulation exercises prepare veterinary services for real outbreaks, adapting to address other transboundary animal diseases such as rabies and foot-and-mouth disease.
