Three millennia ago, human activity dramatically transformed Southern China's landscape, nearly extinguishing the South China Sea's once-rich marine life. Today, the Greater Bay Area's 100 million-plus residents exert immense environmental pressure. Beneath the waves, vital ecosystems—fisheries, mangroves, seagrasses, coral reefs—are destroyed. Climate change, pandemics, and waning resources threaten global ecosystems, predicted lost by 2050.

Ecologist David's TEDx talk addresses this crisis. He will introduce ocean restoration methods, discuss re-investing in our ecological future, and explore how technology and entrepreneurship can avert catastrophe. Specializing in human impacts on ocean ecology, particularly coral reefs, David aims to foster their conservation. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx.

Despite increased female political involvement, a gender gap in ambition persists. Achieving safe social and political environments requires women's equal voice in government. Muriel Collins, a University of Mississippi law student, is dedicated to this cause.

A summa cum laude Political Science graduate from Mississippi College, Muriel earned numerous honors, including the Outstanding Student in Pre-Law Award. She interned for Congressman Steven Palazzo and worked on a state Attorney General campaign. “The Journey” represents the spiritual work Native peoples undertake to transform painful experiences into meaning and purpose. A powerful manifestation of this is the Canoe Journey.

Since 1989, Northwest Coastal Indians have participated in the Canoe Journey, traveling to villages along the ancestral highways of the Salish Sea. This spiritual commitment requires participants to be free from alcohol and drugs, offering profound healing for individuals, families, and tribes, especially those in recovery.
