At the Earth Day 2012 Conference co-sponsored by the Earth & Spirit Council and Portland Community College/ Sylvania on the evening of April 20th Barbara Ford participated in a panel discussion between elders and youth around a central conference topic: "What gives us hope and heart to keep working on what is best for our Earth in the face of difficult changes?"  This portion of the event was videotaped by Tom Hopkins and Barry Heidt of the Sustainability Action Media (SAM) coalition and was posted to EarthSayers.tv, voices of sustainability by Ruth Ann Barrett, Curator.

Set in South Africa, this is the story of determination and perseverance, hope in the midst of adversity, one young girl's will to live and the role of Dow in helping to make her dreams come true.

The 2018 Geography of Hope Conference explores the theme of “Finding Resilience in Nature in Perilous Times” on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. During these fraught days of political upheaval, social turmoil, and environmental assaults, the conference shows ways to build emotional and spiritual resilience, using nature as a touchstone.
