The planet is changing rapidly, necessitating urgent environmental solutions. Dr. Bertocchini, initially researching embryo development, expanded her work into bioremediation.

She discovered that *Galleria mellonella* larvae, commonly known as wax worms, can rapidly biodegrade polyethylene (PE), the world's most produced and resilient plastic. This unique speed, faster than any other known biological method, is thought to stem from the larvae's natural ability to consume wax, a complex molecule similar to PE.

Indian farmers face significant challenges from nutrient deficiencies and pest attacks, impacting yield and safety. Amandeep Panwar's company, BharatRohan, addresses this by using drones and artificial intelligence to predict these problems early, enabling farmers to take quick preventative action.

Panwar and co-founder Rishabh Choudhary established BharatRohan Airborne Innovations in 2015 after observing farmers' struggles with early threat identification. Their drones utilize hyperspectral imaging cameras to detect minuscule color changes in crops, foreshadowing potential issues.

BharatRohan's subscription service offers farmers crucial advice throughout the crop season, boosting yields and cutting production costs. The company currently serves over 4,000 farmers across 10,000 acres. This talk was given at a TEDx event. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx.
