Mr. Aslam has led Pakistan's climate change negotiations at various COP meetings since 1999 and advises the Chinese government on environmental policy on the Eco-Forum Global's International Advisory Council. He holds an MBA (McGill) and MSc (Oxford), researching emissions trading.

This lack of consensus hinders effective climate policy, including the Paris Agreement, and limits progress.

To address this, Paulo Magalhães, a law researcher and founder of Common Home for Humanity, proposes a new legal status for climate based on the 'common heritage' concept. This approach would reward efforts to restore ecosystems and reduce CO2, moving beyond current mitigation-focused policies. His idea aims to overcome the policy deadlock and foster global climate recovery.
