Join us for a conversation with leading ecological researcher Mary Power and Institute founder Tom Fleischner. They will explore natural history's vital role in inspiring ecological field study and theoretical advances. Dr. Power's decades of research on river food webs and their ecosystem linkages are deeply informed by her love of natural history.

Mary Power is a Professor at UC Berkeley and Faculty Director of the Angelo Coast Range Reserve. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and other prestigious bodies, and a former president of the Ecological Society of America. Her work was notably featured in "The Serengeti Rules" film.

Mary Maytwayashing shared the Ojibwe translation and significance of the Nibi Water Song, received in a dream. Cody Courchene presented the Turtle, Black Bear, and Calling In Songs, which were translated by Robert Maytwayashing.
