Babs Behan, a Natural Dyer and "Soil-to-Soil" Textile specialist, challenges us to consider our clothes' origins. She highlights the textile industry's shift from natural herbal dyes to a "chemical era" of toxic fashion, urging us to rethink what we put on our skin and Earth. Babs advocates for making daily dressing an act of activism.

Author of "Botanical Inks" and founder of Botanical Inks Natural Dye House, Babs launched Bristol Cloth in 2014. This British-based, circular textile system uses regenerative farming and heritage natural dyes to restore environments, ensure animal welfare, and sustain local culture. This talk was given at a TEDx event. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx.

Eighteen-year-old David Baldwin, inspired by the Everglades, developed a passion for Florida's ecology. At 14, he joined the Everglades Restoration Ambassadors, a nonprofit dedicated to removing nonnative plants. He also educates elementary students using his own modules.

Baldwin's educational programs stem from his research, which began in 2017. Interning at Florida Atlantic University, he studied Caesar's weed, investigating its germination and spread. His findings led him to theorize land-management practices, including hands-on removal and prescribed burns, to control this invasive species.

While individual actions like composting are helpful, they are not the most effective ways to combat climate change. In this talk, youth climate activist Disha Ravi explains what *you* can do to prevent a climate apocalypse.

Ravi, a founder of Fridays for Future India, gained prominence after her arrest in the 'toolkit' case, where a social justice document was deemed seditious by the Indian government; she was later granted bail. She currently works as a culinary experience manager with GoodMylk, promoting accessible plant-based food.

New research highlights how decades of U.S. housing policy have created urban environments where prosperous, white neighborhoods enjoy ample tree shade, while low-income communities of color lack green spaces. National Geographic writer Alejandra Borunda explores how activists are working to make Los Angeles greener and healthier for everyone, emphasizing that solutions extend beyond simply planting more trees.

Geothermal energy, despite lower carbon emissions than coal, is not benign. Projects like Nevada's proposed Baltazor site highlight significant environmental and social costs. Geothermal development leads to habitat destruction (e.g., in Kenya and for Nevada's Dixie Valley toad) and violent evictions of indigenous communities.

Drilling releases toxic elements like mercury, arsenic, and boron into groundwater. Facilities also cause air pollution, including sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, contributing to acid rain and health issues, as seen in Iceland. Moreover, "enhanced geothermal systems" (EGS) utilize fracking technology, injecting high-pressure slurries that can poison groundwater and induce earthquakes, mirroring problems in the oil and gas industry.

Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) offers a powerful solution to fuel the future, capable of replacing fossil fuels for industrial processes like steel and cement manufacturing, thereby reducing global carbon emissions. CSP systems use arrays of revolving mirrors (heliostats) to precisely reflect sunlight into a central receiver, generating immense heat.

Recent advancements in AI and machine learning are making CSP technology smarter, more efficient, and increasingly affordable. Innovators like Heliogen, backed by Bill Gates, leverage software to optimize mirror control, making solar energy cleaner and cheaper than fossil fuels. This progress paves the way for global adoption, as explored in the "Hard Reset" series.
