Gordian Raacke, Executive Director of Renewable Energy Long Island, will explain the necessity and method for transitioning to a 100% renewable energy supply, both globally and locally.

With a civil engineering degree and 25 years in regional energy, Raacke is a recognized expert. He co-founded the Long Island Offshore Wind Initiative, helped develop the local solar market, and was trained by Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader. He also led a 2011 study on a 100% renewable electricity future for the region and serves on local sustainability committees.

Scientific researcher Morgan Vague discovered plastic-eating bacteria, a potential solution to the global plastic pollution problem. Despite being told in school she wasn't "smart enough" for math and science, Morgan pursued her passion.

After high school, she enrolled at Houston Community College, completing remedial math and basic science courses. Accepted to Reed College, a microbiology course ignited her passion for science. Graduating in 2018 with a Biology degree, she is now a research assistant at Reed, focusing on bacterial biodegradation to combat plastic pollution.
