Indigenous peoples have an incredible record for protecting the natural world, and this 2024 Earthshot Prize Finalist represents the permanent protection of 35 million hectares of forest in the territories of 30 Indigenous nations across Peru and Ecuador.

They have been workingin collaboration with WPP, the world's largest communications services group, and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the #WhyWhyNot campaign to put pressure on world leaders, through their citizens, to make meaningful commitments on carbon emission reduction

Why? Why Not? In every language on the planet, children ask these questions over, and over, and over. They ask the first to understand the world around them, and they ask the second when they want to change that world.
