Ryan Camero, from Stockton, CA, began volunteering with Restore the Delta in 2010 to understand community resilience amidst social challenges and water issues. His interest in art and storytelling led him to the Beehive Collective. Collaborating with Restore the Delta and Food and Water Watch, Camero conceptualized "Sucked Dry" in 2014, a presentation with Beehive Collective graphics that linked California's water privatization to struggles against large-scale infrastructure projects in Mesoamerica.

Last fall, Camero toured 18 California cities, presenting "Sucked Dry" and facilitating discussions on the fragile Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Now employed by Restore the Delta, he continues to act as a "cross-pollinator," fostering collaborations across organizations to address interconnected social, environmental, and economic inequities.

Amelia Southern-Uribe, 21, grew up in environmentally vulnerable Southern communities, recognizing early on that environmental justice is linked to the liberation of marginalized groups. In 2019, they founded Arkansas’s first Zero Hour chapter in Fayetteville, which became a model for climate activism across the state.

Addressing Arkansas’s educational disparities, which exacerbate injustice, Southern-Uribe co-founded Roots magazine in 2022. Roots amplifies BIPOC Southern voices and environmental knowledge, providing free art supplies to artists. In its pilot year, over $7,800 was raised to distribute the magazine statewide.

Janine Benyus, the "Godmother of Biomimicry," advocates for humans to become a "welcome species" by designing settlements that give back to the planet. Through Biomimicry 3.8, she demonstrates how human environments can emulate nature's ecological gifts.

Benyus envisions cities functioning like forests—storing water, purifying air, cycling nutrients, and nurturing biodiversity. Her "Project Positive" initiatives prove this regenerative vision is achievable by asking, "What would Nature do here?" Discover more at biomimicry.net.

Earthsayers Cinema presents "The Creative High," a powerful documentary exploring the intersection of art, addiction, and recovery. The film intimately follows nine artists—dancers, painters, musicians, and performers—as they navigate their personal journeys, revealing creativity as a pathway to healing and wholeness.

Joining us for this discussion is co-director Dianne Griffin. An accomplished cinematographer and someone in recovery herself, Dianne brings a unique dual perspective to the project. Her work, informed by Buddhism, explores themes of transformation, spirituality, and human resilience, viewing the creative process as a spiritual journey.

Beyond just smelling the roses, practice the art of noticing. Listen to the birds, observe the deer, and truly see the subtle beauty of your surroundings.

Matteo Lane is a multifaceted artist—stand-up comedian, painter, singer, and Broadway performer. In this interview, he shares how these skills intertwine in his creative process, likening art to a tree that branches out in various directions.

We explore his role as Billy Flynn in Broadway’s Chicago, his journey from bar shows to international comedy tours, and the evolution of gay representation in comedy. Lane also discusses his artistic roots at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his admiration for Maria Callas, and his philosophy of focusing on the journey of creation rather than the end product.
