The green economy can make a significant contribution to Irelands economy by creating employment and export opportunities in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and consultancy, waste management, recovery and recycling, and water and wastewater treatment. The High-Level Group on Green Enterprise was mandated to identify areas where Ireland could succeed in the green economy and was charged with identifying key road blockages for the green economy and ways to overcome these. Jonathan Healy will set out a strategy for Ireland to capture the oppertunities identified in the report.

About the speaker: Jonathan Healy is an environmental economist educated at University College Dublin (UCD) where he received BA, MSc and PhD degrees in economics. He is currently a Senior Policy Analyst in the National Competitiveness, Sustainability and Infrastructure Department in Forfás with responsibility for environmental and infrastructural policy and a Research Associate of the Policy Institute, Trinity College Dublin (TCD).

On June 21, 2017, on the summer solstice & National Aboriginal Day (Canada), Turtle Lodge Elders, four youth torch runners, four water carriers & the drum group Red Shadow Singers from the Original Nations of this land lit a sacred fire at the sacred site of Manitou Api in the centre of the continent. The flame was brought to Winnipeg and the Centennial Flame lit by Elder Dave Courchene, where it will burn in front of the Manitoba Legislative Building for one year, to help inspire the province and the nation. The 2017 Canada Games torch run commenced with this sacred flame in Manitoba, and the sacred fire was brought Friday to light the 2017 Canada Games cauldron. The youth voice is powerful— and young people are ready to have their imaginative and dynamic voices reflected in the policy-making process. It's time to deconstruct our negative perceptions of youth and redefine inclusivity in American democracy. Amanda Schuerman is an 18-year-old community activist from Gilbert, Arizona. She currently serves as the Southwest Regional Director with March For Our Lives and as the Captain of her Speech and Debate team. She is a senior at Gilbert Classical Academy High School and plans to pursue a career in nonprofit law. This talk draws upon Sue's experience of studying wild rabbits for her PhD and calls for a return to the bio-abundance of the past, partly through a rethinking of housing policy - by viewing houses as homes rather than investment opportunities Sue has served her home town of Wallingford as both a Town Councillor and later, a District Councillor, as well as being involved in the Transport Group of Sustainable Wallingford. As an environmental campaigner she fights overdevelopment and loss of communal facilities, working towards a new target for nature restoration (back to the ‘50s) to nurture our precious land for climate control and for nature, whilst building homes for need not greed. She holds a doctorate from Oxford University on the social behaviour of wild rabbits, a once familiar sight in the UK, but sadly now on the endangered species Red List.
