As 5G rolls out, attention shifts to 6G, the next generation of wireless technology. This international race aims for significantly higher data rates, improved reliability, and ubiquitous coverage, including underserved areas. Achieving this requires innovations in new architectures like edge computing, reduced latency, breakthrough energy efficiency, and machine learning.

A webinar, organized by the ITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies (ITU J-FET), will describe this wireless future. Speaker Andrea J. Goldsmith (Princeton University) will discuss the necessary innovations and breakthroughs. The ITU J-FET is a free international journal covering communications and networking.

Startups play a vital role in the circular economy. A prime example is Back Market, a global marketplace for refurbished tech, which has become one of France's most successful startup unicorns.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an international charity, develops and promotes the circular economy. This model, driven by design, aims to eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, 16-year-old Riya Chandra discovered a passion for hiking but noticed a lack of girls of color in outdoor spaces. Research revealed historical non-inclusivity and systemic barriers preventing families of color from accessing nature, validating her own experiences.

To address this, Chandra founded HYPE: GIRLS (Hiking Youth Program for Equity: Girls) in 2021. The program organizes hikes, nature walks, and lectures for teenage girls of color in New York's Westchester and Yonkers areas. HYPE: GIRLS fosters a safe, inclusive community, promoting nature interaction for coping and self-discovery. It aims to inspire young people to protect our environment and become role models for future generations.

Lichens, a complex symbiosis of fungi and algae, are now recognized as intricate micro-ecosystems. Despite their ecological importance, these diverse organisms are often overlooked. They thrive in varied habitats, from lush forests to the Sonoran Desert, which alone supports over a third of North America's lichen species.

Join lichen expert Dr. Frank Bungartz for a Speaker Series talk exploring what lichens are, where they are found, and their fundamental role in ecosystems. Dr. Bungartz, Collections Manager at ASU's Lichen Herbarium, will share insights from his extensive research on lichen diversity and function in regions like the Sonoran Desert, Galapagos, and Ecuador.
