During the UN Climate Ambition Summit on September 20, WECAN hosted an event where women leaders called on governments to halt fossil fuel extraction. They urged investment in a Just Transition, grounded in climate justice, care economies, and Indigenous rights, rather than business as usual.

The event featured two panels. The first, "Women Ending the Era of Fossil Fuels," discussed transitioning away from extraction and policy advocacy. The second, "Women-led Climate Solutions Are Central to a Just Transition and Thriving Future," showcased successful community-led climate solutions.

Savery frequently speaks on sustainability and sport, and co-edited the pioneering book, Sustainability and Sport, with Dr. Keith Gilbert. She was interviewed by EarthSayers.tv in September 2013 during the America's Cup finals in San Francisco.

As Head of Sustainability for the America's Cup Event Authority, she has advised organizations including the United States Olympic Committee, the London 2012 Organizing Committee, and FIFA World Cup bid teams on embedding sustainable practices into their operations.

An International Swimming Hall of Fame inductee, Savery earned a Master's Degree from Yale University and coached athletes for over two decades. They highlighted the importance of a Just Transition and presented comprehensive, intersectional strategies to advance community-led climate solutions, phase out fossil fuels, protect democracy, and strengthen the climate justice movement.

Discussions focused on critical topics such as forest protection, reforestation, gender-responsive climate policies, fossil fuel resistance, food sovereignty, Indigenous and human rights, Rights of Nature, and strategic campaigns for COP30 and future climate action.
