Elder Morris Little Wolf shares about the importance of our children and young people passing Tobacco to Elders to help them learn about their culture and Sacred teachings of their ancestors. Elder Little Wolf teaches that our Elders are the root of our healing and our young people need more opportunities to learn from the Elders to help them heal from addictions by finding their spiritual identity and gifts. The Turtle Lodge International Centre for Indigenous Education and Wellness has partnered with the Sagkeeng Mino Pimatiziwin Family Treatment Centre to share teachings and provide guidance on how to heal from addictions. Climate change is the biggest crises staring at humanity but our politicial leaders and businesspeople don't pay a heed to it. Ridhima is the one who is challenging the most powerful people to take action. She won't stay quiet because her future as well as future of billions of young children is being spoiled. Watch this powerful talk by Ridhima who is not willing to 'tolerate' inaction. Ridhima is a daring 11-year-old girl who sued the Indian government for not taking serious steps to combat climate change. It was dismissed, but she escalated it to the Supreme Court. That’s a gutsy move by a young climate activist! The Uttarakhand floods of 2013 prompted her to take notice of the disastrous effects of climate change. The death toll in the floods affected Ridhima badly, and made her furious on the apathy of Indian government. She was invited to the United Nations General Assembly at the Climate Action Summit 2019. She joined Greta Thunberg on Sep 20 in her Global Climate Strike at New York. She also spoke at the international XYNETO exchange conference in Norway to spread awareness about climate change. Recently, Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia interacted with her in Rishikesh. Tulika Nahar was introduced to the drastic impacts of climate change at a very young age. In her talk, she outlines the ways of conveying the idea of climate change, which would compel people to take action, instead of causing them to sit still and avoid the topic. "This theme this year was “Yallah!”, meaning “go” in Arabic; whether it is pushing for a change in the local community, or a global issue. As a team, yallah was very closely linked with this years restrictions and it meant moving forward with a positive outlook. Unlike other years, this year’s event was held entirely on zoom due to CoVID-19 precautions. Despite the obvious technical changes this year, the TEDxYouth@DAA team worked at full speed and technicality in order to push this unique event forward. World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) focuses this year on “Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies.” Taking place on 17 May 2023, on the Day ITU calls on the public and private sectors to make pledges for universal connectivity and digital transformation in these countries through its Partner2Connect Digital Coalition. Mid-way through the agenda to fulfil the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, those countries face daunting challenges. he Fifth Conference on the Least Developed Countries(LDC5) in Doha, Qatar, has set out an ambitious new United Nations programme of action to deliver on sustainable development for all by 2030. LDCs are the world’s greatest untapped resource, whose needs must be addressed to achieve the SDGs. About one third of the 2.7 billion people who remain unconnected to the Internet are in the 46 LDCs. Investment in these young, vibrant countries can drive sustainable growth for generations. Together, let’s make 2023 a year of progress for digital transformation in the least developed countries. WTISD has been celebrated annually every 17 May since 1969. It marks the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention and founding of ITU in 1865. Investment in these young, vibrant countries can drive sustainable growth for generations.
