During her confirmation hearing, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen reaffirmed her long-standing support for carbon pricing as a key climate change solution. She plans to appoint a senior official and establish a Treasury hub to focus on financial system risks and tax policy incentives related to climate change.

Yellen stressed that pricing emissions is a critical tool for governments to incentivize a transition to net-zero, though she acknowledged it is not the only necessary policy.
