This Summit21 session (June 9, 2021) explored the circular economy. Chile’s Minister Carolina Schmidt presented her country's roadmap. Wolfgang Blau and Dame Ellen MacArthur discussed optimizing ecosystem value. Panels included experts from Morgan Stanley and BlackRock on investment, and supply chain leaders from PVH, IKEA, and H&M on redesigning global systems for profit, inclusivity, and environmental benefits.

The "Westwood Next Door" project, developed by the M06 student group, proposed sustainable interventions for Seattle's Westwood-Highland Park neighborhood. Operating under the motto "small measures for big changes," their goal was to improve the area by considering residents' needs and interests, specifically avoiding gentrification.

The strategy focused on promoting sustainable thinking, community engagement, green transportation, streetscape greening, and temporary uses for brownfields and vacant buildings. Aryan Ranjan highlights the irony of ignoring scientific climate evidence despite clear signs like rising sea levels and stronger hurricanes. However, Aryan believes breakthroughs exist. His memoir, Bird Uncaged, documents his journey, exposing the brutality of incarceration and the hollowness of the American Dream.

Peterson's path began in Brooklyn, leading to 10 years in prison at 19 after trauma and a robbery. While incarcerated, he earned a degree and immersed himself in anti-violence and prison abolition activism.
