Alice Maggio, an advocate for place-based currencies and local economies, uses an apple tree metaphor to describe the factors essential for a healthy, sustainable economy. From 2012-2017, Alice served as Director of Programs and Executive Director of BerkShares, the Berkshire region’s local currency, at the Schumacher Center for a New Economics. She has been interviewed by PBS NewsHour and the History Channel, and represented her work at international conferences.

On November 28, 2015, at Turtle Lodge in Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers presented The Great Binding Law. This significant presentation, led by Anishinabe, Nehetho (Cree), and Dakota representatives, responded to the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs' request for guidance on the National Energy Board's pipeline proposals.

The Elders, including Oshoshko Bineshiikwe (Blue Thunderbird Woman) and Nii Gaani Aki Inini (Dave Courchene), shared their wisdom. A video of part of their presentation is available, though sacred ceremonies were not recorded. Symon Ptashnick filmed the event.

Kris Gasteratos, founder of the Cellular Agriculture Society (CAS) and author of "90 Reasons," recently met with Suzette Bishop at Google NY. Their discussion focused on lab-grown meat, cellular agriculture, and Project CMF.

Project CMF (Cell-based Meat Facility) is a CAS design initiative conceptualizing New York's meat production by 2040, where animal cells are farmed instead of animals. Over a dozen leading cell-based meat scientists were consulted to create an ambitious yet realistic vision. Kris Gasteratos is the Lead Concept Designer, with Mihai Iacubovschi as Lead Visual Designer.
