The National Turtle Lodge Elders’ and Knowledge Keepers’ Council calls for a National Day of Prayer on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at various times across Canada. This collective prayer responds to the tragic discovery of 215 children at a Kamloops residential school, honoring all affected by the residential school system.

Elders and Knowledge Keepers will lead ceremonies, lifting Sacred Pipes and lighting Sacred Fires, praying in Original Languages. Their aim is healing, fostering a new relationship based on love and kindness, and supporting today's children through ancestral ways.

All are invited to join this Sunday by participating in their own traditions. A special gathering at Turtle Lodge in July will seek further spiritual guidance for the country's path forward.

Global women leaders, including representatives from Africa, Colombia, Brazil, and Turtle Island, shared powerful insights. They addressed ending fossil fuels, ensuring rights-based Just Transition, advocating for Indigenous Peoples' rightful place, and building a just world.

At the conference, WECAN also launched its report, "Justice-Based Climate Finance for COP30 and Beyond." Global women leaders are spearheading critical strategies for national and international divestment from harmful extractive industries. They demand justice and accountability from financial institutions, advocating for a Just Transition that prioritizes people and planet.

On September 22, 2022, an event, part of WECAN’s three-day Climate Justice Forum, highlighted these efforts. WECAN presented the second edition of its report, "Gendered and Racial Impacts of the Fossil Fuel Industry," amplifying the voices and actions of global women leaders in divestment from fossil fuels, deforestation, and militarism. Prominent speakers contributed to the discussion.

Sauka's applied research includes collaborations with organizations like the OECD and European Commission, with findings published in leading journals and books. The Women's Earth and Climate Network (WECAN) hosted the Assembly from June 23-28, 2025. It united over 125 grassroots and frontline women leaders, global advocates, and policymakers from 50 countries. Across 25 panels, participants presented diverse visions and strategies to accelerate a transformative path toward a healthy and just world.
