Chhavi Jatwani is the Design and Innovation Lead at the Future Food Network with international experience in food design and systems thinking. Chhavi has consistently been the industry first-mover, joining the first cohorts of all her educational experiences - BA in product & Interaction design in Bangalore, Masters in Food Design in Milan, and Food Innovation Global mission in Reggio Emilia. Growing up in a developing country, her strong internal compass is guided by only one question - What is the impact I am creating? She entered the food world with the ambition to promote a foundational systemic shift from intensive to regenerative, centralized to decentralized, taste & convenience-driven to also health and wellbeing focussed. In her ten years of experience as a social impact creative, the last five have focused on the intersection of food systems, design and business, maneuvering toolkits from design thinking, service design, systemic design, lean startup, and agile. Through R&D projects and innovation workshops, Chhavi has helped major FMCG companies like Dole, Barilla, and Ab-Inbev in sowing the seeds to their human and planet centered agenda. Today she acts as an ecosystem architect connecting the dots between the needs of different stakeholders of the food system with the ones of our planet, developing a new human & planet centered methodology to drive systemic innovation. How do you build long lasting relationships? That is a question we ask ourselves as strong relationships are something we desire in our lives. A concept of 'deep trust', translated from the Chinese ‘xìn rèn’ originated in China and can be traced back to Confucius. It was carried into different countries within the past few decades and is seen as a foundation for building sustainable interpersonal relationships. I will discuss my experience of growing up in China and reflecting on ways in which each and every person can easily incorporate this concept into their lives to build long lasting relationships. Anna Metz, a 17 year old student from Germany, is currently in Shanghai, China. Despite holding a German passport, Anna has lived in China all her life, and loves to connect to people in daily life and build relationships with peers from all over the world. She is a curious individual, being very much intrigued by questions regarding social, philosophical and economic issues. Anna's eagerness to learn more about different cultures has led to her continuous involvement in Model United Nations, which has nurtured her global awareness and strengthened her understanding regarding inter-cultural phenomena. Dr Olivia Ahn discusses the current approach to sustainability that often forces consumers to compromise on product performance, cost or convenience. Corporates have found that with the growing market demand for sustainable alternatives, they are made to compromise on margins and product features. How can we change our approach to sustainability to ensure that we provide consumers and corporations with sustainable alternatives that do not force us to a false choice? Olivia is the co-founder of Planera - a femcare start-up with the market’s first flushable sanitary pads. Having founded Planera in her final year of medical school, Olivia went full-time into business after completing her medical foundation training in 2019. As a strong public speaker and passionate about the impact of sustainability on consumers and businesses, Olivia has spoken at the World Economic Forum, London’s City Hall as the Mayor’s Entrepreneur, taught business students and entrepreneurs at universities, as well as speaking about Planera to media and press.
