Join us Monday, October 11, 2021, for National Coming Out Day. We will screen the Pixar short film *Out* and host a fascinating conversation with its director, Steven Clay Hunter, and producer, Max Sachar.

Steven Clay Hunter, a veteran Pixar animator, made his directorial debut with *Out*, which was Oscar-shortlisted and GLADD-nominated. Max Sachar, a San Francisco-based filmmaker and Pixar producer for 15 years, produced the acclaimed short, contributing creatively to its development.

Susan Orlean, New Yorker staff writer and author of the best-selling *The Library Book*, visited The Commonwealth Club on October 14, 2021. She discussed her new book, *On Animals*, a collection exploring cross-species connections and animals' central role in human life. Orlean shared her lifelong fascination with human-animal interaction.

She was joined by journalist Julia Flynn Siler. The Commonwealth Club, the nation's oldest and largest public affairs forum, hosts diverse speakers at over 400 annual events.
