Our webinar series examines the colonial legacies of introducing cows to the Americas, which profoundly altered human-land relationships. Cattle grazing fueled colonial projects and capitalist economies, leading to the loss of Native lives, livelihoods, and culture.

This panel will discuss these historical impacts and explore pathways forward, including regenerative practices, food justice, land equity, and restoring traditional knowledge for healthy communities and living landscapes. Experts like Dr. Linda Alvarez, Dr. Liz Carlisle (author of *Healing Grounds*), and Dr. Rosa Ficek (whose article inspired this panel) will lead the conversation.

Dr. Nevada Winrow, a Pediatric Neuropsychologist, is the Founder & CEO of Black Girls Dive Foundation. She brings over a decade of experience from clinical practice, academia, and higher education administration.

A PADI Master Scuba Diver, Dr. Winrow is a member of the Women's Diving Hall of Fame and the American Academy of Underwater Sciences. She also serves as the National Chairwoman of Youth programs for the National Association of Black Scuba Divers.

Shima Abadi is a Professor of Oceanography, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Washington. Her research primarily focuses on ocean noise.

Her work encompasses sound source localization, acoustical imaging, and animal bioacoustics. An award recipient from the Acoustical Society of America, Dr. Abadi is currently developing algorithms for underwater network data analysis, mitigating seismic airgun noise, and analyzing ocean ambient noise.

Dr. Power's decades of research on river food webs and their ecosystem linkages are deeply informed by her love of natural history.

Mary Power is a Professor at UC Berkeley and Faculty Director of the Angelo Coast Range Reserve. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and other prestigious bodies, and a former president of the Ecological Society of America. Her work was notably featured in "The Serengeti Rules" film.

Currently, Diana focuses on educating her community about the harms of single-use plastic. She collaborates with the South Florida Plastic Coalition, advocating for reduced single-use plastic use in her county.

Professor of entomology at Wits University, Marcus Byrne's early passion for insects was solidified at the Dung Beetle Research Unit in South Africa, where he discovered the significance of biological control and the fascinating world of dung beetles.
