Julia, a high-impact language, defies the notion that productivity and performance are mutually exclusive in programming. He encourages students to use computation for social impact and global problem-solving.

Shah's contributions extend to the Aadhaar Project and co-authoring "Rebooting India." His work on the Julia Language earned him the 2019 J. H. David Rooney, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, directs the Sustainable Energy Research Group and Bryden Centre. His research focuses on sustainable energy and materials, and he advises industry and government on Zero Carbon technologies. He also holds the position of Dean of Internationalisation and Reputation for the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, with extensive international experience.
