He oversees efforts to protect wildlands and endangered species, spearheading campaigns to end federal fossil fuel leasing and ban uranium mining around the Grand Canyon.

In this artist talk, McKinnon explores nature photography as a practice of natural history, intertwining observation, art, love, and activism. He will discuss his process in the field and Lightroom, including the compositional freedom of long lenses and developing a minimalist style absent art theory.
