The Rights of Nature, also known as the Rights of Mother Earth, is a global movement dedicated to creating communities that respect and defend nature's rights. Didier and his wife, Rosa Canalos (Kichwa), founded the Sacha Warmi Center. Located on the outskirts of the Amazonian Rainforest in Ecuador's Pastaza region, this educational resource is part of PROMETRA (Promoción de la Medicina Tradicional Amazónica), a local initiative they established in 2005.

Climate change is exacerbating the situation, with unpredictable weather, ice storms, and drought fueling the fires, which have already released 17 million tons of CO2.

Experts Paul Beckwith and Patrick Hogan explain this worsening air quality as a critical symptom of the climate crisis. When smoke reached Washington D.C., legislators experienced firsthand the effects, reminiscent of the 1930s Dustbowl. The key question is whether this event will finally prompt significant action.

Dr. Lindsay Murray's talk highlights climate change's impact on wildlife, driven by human activity. Using the 'anthropause' as a catalyst, she encourages a call to action for greener, wilder, and more respectful co-existence with nature for shared benefit.

Dr. Murray, a Senior Lecturer in Animal Psychology, researches primatology (personality, social behaviour, self-recognition) and broader animal behaviour, such as elephant grief and brown bear ecotourism. She serves on the Primate Society of Great Britain Council and the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour Education Committee, and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
