The campaign urges everyone to pose these fundamental questions to their networks and elected representatives, challenging inaction and vested interests until real change occurs.

Ferrill, a staff member in DePaul’s Department of English, shares her first-hand experience limiting plastic consumption in her talk, "What I learned the year I tried to give up plastic."

In 2015, driven by environmental concerns, Ferrill challenged herself to avoid plastic for a year, documenting her struggles and unavoidable items on her blog, dumpingplastic.com. The idea originated from a writing class she taught at DePaul University.
