Join Mark Reynolds for welcome remarks. Jerry Taylor will discuss the state of the Republican party and how the party will move on climate action this Congress, and what the Niskanen Center is doing to advocate for carbon pricing. Jasmine Sanders and Clara Fang will discuss youth involvement in climate advocacy, how Our Climate is educating on carbon pricing, and how you can better engage youth in your community. Finally, Dr. Danny Richter will deliver a legislative update. Ms. Sanders is a climate scientist, strategist, advocate and native of Monroe, Louisiana. She is the Executive Director of Our Climate, a climate change advocacy organization energized by its youth grassroots movement. Striving to raise awareness to the intersecting effects of climate change and the communities of color who are disproportionately affected, she utilizes the positivity that results from uplifting our youth to make a global impact. Prior to founding the Center in 2014, Taylor spent 23 years at the Cato Institute, where he served as director of natural resource studies, assistant editor of Regulation magazine, senior fellow, and then vice president. Before that, Taylor was the staff director for the energy and environment task force at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Find full bio: https://www.niskanencenter.org/author/jerry-taylor/ Dr. Richter joined CCL’s staff in 2013 after 5 years as a volunteer, completing his Ph.D., and getting paid to do scientific research on all 7 continents. As CCL’s first staffer in DC, he established our DC office where he has been responsible for developing our overall legislative strategy, clarifying the details of our policy, and interacting with other groups in DC. He has also overseen CCL’s research program, leading to our REMI Study, Household Impacts Study, and Dividend Delivery Study. Clara started volunteering with CCL in 2016 and now serves as the Student Engagement Director in which she engages students in climate advocacy and helps members conduct outreach to higher education. Prior to CCL, Clara had 15 years of experience implementing sustainability in higher education. She holds a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University and a MFA in Creative Writing from University of Utah. She is currently getting her PhD in Environmental Studies at Antioch University.
