The Audacious Project, a collaborative funding initiative by TED, has awarded The Ocean Cleanup $121 million. This significant donation will kickstart the scale-up of our Interceptor technology through the 30 Cities Program. Our goal is to stop one-third of global plastic emissions from rivers into the ocean by the end of the decade, targeting highly polluting urban centers across Asia and the Americas.

This crucial funding provides a strong foundation for the program, enabling the planned deployment of Interceptor solutions this year in cities such as Barranquilla, Colombia; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Mumbai, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; and the Manila Bay Region, Philippines, among others.

As a data scientist, education strategist, and national advocate, Colbert champions culturally grounded STEM and AI education.

She chairs the General Education Department at Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College, advancing literacy for Indigenous and adult reentry learners. An RStudio Scholar and a leader among Tribal Colleges, Colbert spearheads national efforts to reimagine STEM and AI through Indigenous frameworks, promoting cultural integrity and digital sovereignty. After the 2020 wildfires, Kyle Trefny became a wildland firefighter, connecting with peers passionate about transforming society's relationship with fire. This led him to co-found FireGeneration Collaborative (FireGen) in 2022. FireGen is a youth-led organization dedicated to shifting wildfire management from short-term disaster response to long-term resilience and Indigenous leadership.

Trefny co-led FireGen's national campaign, advocating for youth roles in policy. This resulted in FireGen members advising a federal commission and Director Ryan Reed becoming the youngest federal advisor in US history. Trefny has also been instrumental in shaping FireGen's vision and securing over $350,000 in grants, empowering youth and Indigenous voices for the future.

At eight, he realized options like EVs or voting were out of reach for youth, making effective environmentalism seem a privilege. His grassroots organization aims to anchor young people in the climate movement.

The Green Therapy empowers youth through sustainable gardening, which reduces waste, preserves biodiversity, and combats pollution affordably. It partners with 14 San Francisco Bay Area schools, establishing environmental courses and garden programs. These initiatives equip students with practical skills to protect the planet, fostering a lasting connection to nature and building a growing school garden network.
