World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD), celebrated annually on 17 May, marks the founding of the ITU, the UN agency for digital technologies. This day emphasizes how digital innovation is vital for building a sustainable future and achieving prosperity for all.

Digital technologies are crucial for tackling global challenges like climate change, hunger, and poverty, contributing to 70% of UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Yet, significant digital gaps—stemming from insufficient policies, investment, and skills—hinder progress worldwide. He was joined by Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau, and Mr. Philip Marnick, General Director of Bahrain's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
