In this behind-the-scenes look at Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin's visit to Columbia, as part of a World Leaders Forum event, students and faculty reflect on the "extraordinary experience" of meeting a sustainability leader. The event was hosted by Alex Halliday, director of Columbia’s Earth Institute, and moderated by Karenna Gore, director of the Center for Earth Ethics at the University’s Union Theological Seminary.

For years now, Columbia has been tackling the issue of climate change. From cutting edge research to grassroots student movements, Columbia on Climate is a new series that highlights how climate and sustainability remain a central focus of the University community.

Todd Tanner, President & Founder of Conservation Hawks Todd is the founder and president of Conservation Hawks, which engages America’s 40 million anglers & hunters on climate change. A passionate hunter and angler, and a former fly fishing guide, Todd is also a well-known outdoor writer. His stories and essays have appeared from Field & Stream, Sporting Classics, Fly Fisherman and American Angler to Men’s Journal, Forbes, the NY Times and Newsweek. In addition, Todd owns and runs the iconic School of Trout. Brian Wagner, Life Member & Grassroots Volunteer of Trout Unlimited Brian is a past-President of the PA Council of Trout Unlimited and currently serves as the PA representative to the Trout Unlimited National Leadership Council (NLC) and chair of the NLC Climate Change work group. Brian serves locally as Secretary and Youth Education Coordinator of the Forks of the Delaware chapter of Trout Unlimited in eastern PA and serves on the board of the Bushkill Stream Conservancy. He is a Certified Fishing Instructor for the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission. Drew Eyerly, CCL Conservative Outreach Director Drew lends a conservative voice and perspective to the organization’s mission while working to recruit, engage, and retain those right of center in the pursuit of a sustainable world. Drew has a BS in Environmental Management as well as Occupational Health and Safety. Prior to joining CCL, he served in the United States Army for 12 years.
