From 3BL Media: Since 1965, Eastman has voluntarily sponsored periodic environmental studies of the rivers upstream and downstream of our major US manufacturing sites. Chemical manufacturers, like Eastman, are seeking to having the public perceive them as being environmentally responsible in terms of the community water systems. It is up to each individual to listen to and then challenge our business leaders for the credibility and authenticity of sustainability-related claims, rewarding those who practice what they preach by buying their products and services.
For 4 days in February of 2011, the University of Oregon's Food Justice conference drew leaders together from the sustainability movement, farmers, scholars, educators, students, and others to examine the food system through the lens of community, equity, and sustainability concerns.
