Equal Rights for Women and Girls

About This Collection

Equal Rights for Women is a major category, like energy or climate change, of sustainability and the voices in this collection are of the present and the past.

If we don't address human rights and social justice of which the sustainability keywords and phrases include children's rights and welfare; human trafficking, slavery, and women's rights and roles, then as David Korten points out, we will not be able to come to terms with the limits of the planet and not even technology will be able to save us.

Closing plenary of COP30 -- Daniela Durán González, Colombian Minister
November 24, 2025
“According to the IPCC, nearly 75% of global CO2 emissions come from fossil fuels. There is no mitigation if we cannot discuss transitioning away from fossil fuels with means of implementation in a just and orderly way.” Daniela Durán González, Head of International Affairs, Colombian Minister of Environmental and Sustainable Development, Colombia Delegation The struggle continues in the closing plenary of #COP30 , where several Parties, including Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Colombia have raised alarm over procedural issues and have formally objected to the outcome documents on the Global Goal on Adaptation and the Mitigation Work Program. Across the negotiations we’ve seen a removal of language on transitioning away from fossil fuels despite agreements to do so in the COP28 UAE Consensus. The newest texts that were shared this morning still did not include references to fossil fuels.
