How Singularity University C.E.O. Steve Leonard practices basic engineering and human design delivering exponential impact to Cambodia farmland. Steve Leonard is an international leader in the information technology industry with more than 25 years of experience building hardware, software, and managed-services companies in Asia and Europe. Leonard also has broad experience in government, holding senior roles in Singapore through which he created and implemented national programs for an innovation-based economy. Leonard currently serves as CEO of Singularity University (SU) — a Silicon Valley based global organisation that enables leaders to understand how future technologies will impact their companies and countries, and engages those leaders to help them shape that future. SU seeks to positively impact one billion people through the collective capabilities of the entrepreneurs, investors, corporations and governments with which it works. Before joining SU, Leonard created SGInnovate – a private company wholly- owned by the Singapore Government – to help entrepreneurial scientists create investable deep-tech startups. During Leonard’s tenure as its Founding CEO, SGInnovate built an engaged community of 35,000 people, held 600 discussion events around science and technology, and launched more than 90 deep tech startups into which it invested $50M. Prior to founding SGInnovate, Leonard served as the Executive Deputy Chairman of the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), a Singapore Government statutory board overseen by the Ministry of Communications and Information. In that role, he held executive responsibility at the national level for various aspects of the information technology and telecommunications industries in Singapore. Prior to his Government roles, Leonard was for two decades the senior executive in either Europe or Asia for several global technology companies, delivering on quarterly performance commitments made publicly to employees, customers, and shareholders. Leonard serves on the main board of Singapore Post Ltd (SingPost), an international e-commerce and logistics operator, and on the main board for AsiaSat, a HK-based satellite operator which has CITIC as a major shareholder. Here’s some ideas and resources for you regarding messaging, activities, educational events and promotion that have worked to engage parishioners! Speaker Bios: Andy Panelli is on the leadership team of CCL’s Catholic Action Team and is a member of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Encyclical Working Group. Andy also leads a multi-parish Creation Care Team (CCT) in Vicariate V of the Archdiocese. Part of the mission of Andy’s CCT is to provide tools and event ideas to make other CCT’s in the Diocese more effective. Steve Coleman is a retired engineer and businessman. He has been involved with CCL and Catholic outreach for 6 years. Steve has given presentations, help start a care for creation group in is church and written a booklet to lead Catholics from our moral call to care for creation to supporting the Energy Innovation Act. We are living in a time of extreme polarization socially, politically, and religiously. Communities need to be healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually to function effectively and meet the needs of others. By utilizing community empowerment and development principles through agriculture we can help communities become more sustainable. Buddy Walker felt a call to international missions at age 16 and made his first short-term mission trip to Mexico at age 19. He graduated from the Spanish Language School of Guadalajara, Mexico and received his theological training from the El Calvario International Bible College in Guatemala, C.A. He has served with numerous international disaster relief efforts, coordinated international mission teams and developed broad based partnerships for advocating sustainable community development with local government, churches, business leaders, educators and non-profit organizations. Buddy later began working with an agricultural consulting firm and received training in soil science and plant nutrition. He built and operated a wholesale nursery and has developed three micro-intensive farms and a community garden project. In 2012, Buddy started the Empower School & Farm, a residential educational and apprenticeship program located in Umatilla, Florida, which provides training in Christian discipleship, micro-enterprise, sustainable agriculture, community development and world missions.
