Suresh Babu M. earned his Ph.D. from JNU (2002), M.Phil. from JNU (1994), and M.S. from Pondicherry University (1992). His research areas include Applied Macroeconomics, Industrial Economics, and Trade and Development.

Since 2006, he has been an Assistant Professor at IIT Madras. His career includes a Research Associate position at the Centre for Development Studies (2001-2004), teaching at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (2002) and Gokhale Institute (2001), and consulting for the ADB (2000) and World Bank (1996).
