In July 1960, Jane Goodall arrived in Gombe, Tanzania, to study wild chimpanzees. Her discoveries, including that chimpanzees make and use tools, profoundly changed science and redefined what it means to be human.

Recognizing threats to chimpanzees, Jane shifted her focus to advocacy. She launched JGI's community-led Tacare conservation approach, championed animal welfare—including opening JGI's Tchimpounga sanctuary—and traveled globally to spread her message of hope.

Since 2001, the ITU has empowered young people globally, enabling them not only to access and use ICTs, but also to actively contribute to shaping an inclusive, sustainable, and forward-looking digital future.

Through dynamic activities, from regional forums to global summits, the ITU connects young leaders with policymakers. Palestinian youth, especially young women, face alarmingly high unemployment and poverty. Limited job opportunities and a mismatch between education and labor market needs hinder access to decent work, impacting purchasing power and food security.

The FAO, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and funded by Denmark, is tackling this by promoting sustainable "green" jobs in the agrifood sector. The project strengthens youth skills, supports green enterprises, and engages various partners to empower young women and men in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This fosters decent employment, builds resilience, and contributes to a sustainable agrifood system.

Through the AIM4Forests Young Forest Champions programme, she completed courses on forest data and landscape restoration. These strengthened her technical and leadership skills, providing practical tools for ecosystem restoration and community-based conservation in Huascarán National Park.

FAO digital badges boosted Lizet's professional credibility, fostering new collaborations and knowledge sharing. She advocates for these free, multilingual courses, encouraging students and professionals to explore them for collective learning and resilient landscapes.

After the 2020 wildfires, Kyle Trefny became a wildland firefighter, connecting with peers passionate about transforming society's relationship with fire. This led him to co-found FireGeneration

After the 2020 wildfires, Kyle Trefny became a wildland firefighter, connecting with peers passionate about transforming society's relationship with fire. This led him to co-found FireGeneration Collaborative (FireGen) in 2022. FireGen is a youth-led organization dedicated to shifting wildfire management from short-term disaster response to long-term resilience and Indigenous leadership.

Trefny co-led FireGen's national campaign, advocating for youth roles in policy. This resulted in FireGen members advising a federal commission and Director Ryan Reed becoming the youngest federal advisor in US history. Trefny has also been instrumental in shaping FireGen's vision and securing over $350,000 in grants, empowering youth and Indigenous voices for the future.
