Sustainable control of the European grapevine moth in Georgia
January 15, 2026
Funded by the European Union and Sweden, the Mating Disruption Programme of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) supports Georgian viticulture in reducing pest damage while improving grape quality and food safety. By using pheromone-based pest control and applying sustainable vineyard management practices, wineries are significantly cutting chemical pesticide use and advancing organic production. The Programme shows how science-based solutions strengthen environmental sustainability and the long-term competitiveness of Georgia’s wine sector.
