A Terracing Success Story from the Gediz Basin
April 14, 2026

The Gediz Basin in Türkiye faces challenges from erosion, land degradation, and climate change. The "Sustainable and Integrated Water Resources Management in the Gediz Basin Project," supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

A video highlights a success story in agricultural terracing: farmer Mustafa Katrancıoğlu in Manisa restored degraded land, reducing erosion and improving productivity. His experience demonstrates how sustainable land management rebuilds both livelihoods and the environment.
