Devil's Claw, a protected species, is vital to Namibia, supplying over 90% of the world's demand. Harvesting is regulated to ensure long-term availability. The SWM Programme collaborates with local partners to promote sustainable harvesting methods and fair prices.

This international initiative is co-funded by the European Union, the French Facility for Global Environment, and the French Development Agency. It is implemented by the FAO, CIRAD, CIFOR-ICRAF, and WCS.
