Peatlands are vital ecosystems, crucial for climate action, storing vast carbon, conserving biodiversity, and supporting livelihoods.

Under the AIM4Forests program, technicians from Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, public institutions, and research centers gathered in Iquitos, Peru. They strengthened peatland monitoring capacities using SEPAL, satellite data, drones, and field verification to support sustainable forest management. The workshop concluded with a visit to the Native Community of Nueva Jerusalén, where technology and Indigenous knowledge combine for Amazonian peatland conservation.
