Animal health threats are increasingly frequent, complex, and interconnected, directly impacting livelihoods, food security, and global health. From 2022 to 2025, a project by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), supported by the U.S. Government, strengthened early warning systems, biosecurity, and workforce capacity. This initiative helps countries detect risks earlier and prevent disease outbreaks.

Demonstrated in Ghana, the project enables risks to be identified in the field, reported digitally, analyzed in laboratories, and translated into swift, coordinated action. Integrated systems like FAO's Event Mobile Application (EMA-i+) and Emergency Prevention System (EMPRES-i+) connect surveillance, diagnostics, and national decision-making, strengthening One Health systems and community resilience. While implemented in Ghana, Guinea, and Tanzania, its tools are designed for global application.
