Voices from the field: Women in African swine fever response
January 13, 2026
https://www.fao.org/ectad/asiapacific/our-focus/african-swine-fever/en African swine fever (ASF) affects both domestic and wild pigs, threatening food security and rural livelihoods. The FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) in Asia and the Pacific helps countries prevent and manage ASF by strengthening animal health systems. Building on these efforts, this video showcases women leading the fight against ASF in Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Philippines. It highlights their resilience and innovation as farmers, veterinarians, and community leaders who use grassroots action and biosecurity to protect communities and livelihoods. 👉 Learn more about the FAO RAP ECTAD ASF Regional Project outcomes: https://youtu.be/4UIxpeFZkjI Subscribe! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=FAOoftheUN Follow FAO on social media! * Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/UNFAO * Instagram - https://instagram.com/fao * LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/fao * TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@fao * Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/fao/ * Weibo - https://www.weibo.com/unfao © FAO: http://www.fao.org #SDGs #Agenda2030 #GlobalGoals
